Re-Evaluate What Makes You Happy


This pandemic and the shutdown that happed with it caused a lot of people stress and anxiety, myself included.

This time where we were forced to slow down gave us all opportunity to stop and reflect on what is important in life. It taught me that I didn't have to go hard all of the time. That it's okay to slow down and say, "I am enough."

When things are stressful and tough, it's important to take a mental break and concentrate on the things we can express gratitude for. No matter how bad things are, we all have some things to be grateful for.

What do you have to be grateful for?

We should even be grateful for negative things. They teach us lessons and push us out of our comfort zones,  and that's where growth happens.

Think back to what gave you joy in the past. Was it exercise? Hobbies? Laughter with friends? Curling up on the couch with a good book?

What ever it was, you can always revisit it.

For me it's joyful movement. I don't call it exercise. Exercise sounds like your working towards a goal. Joyful movement - sure it is exercise by definition - can be anything that makes you feel good or connected to your body. Joyful movement could be a slow walk in the park or riding a bicycle. My favorite is yoga, but you find what is right for you!

So what is the most important thing in your life? It has to be you. By honoring yourself, and giving you the self-care you need, you will be a more complete person to better serve the ones you love.
